This large White Cutting Board was roughened, distressed on the top then sanded so it feels "smooth" to the touch although appears rough in texture.
The top side of the board was prepped and coated with Canadian made Fusion Mineral Paint which has no toxic fillers and is a ZERO VOC product. Once cured, it was distressed to give it a lovely worn look.
The bottom side of the board has been left with a natural finish for cutting or prepping food and has been prepped smooth as silk. Large natural cracks or knot holes (if present) were sealed with a vegetable based resin, soaked in all natural food safe Canadian made Hemp Oil, allowed to set and burnished with ultrafine grit to prep for use.
Ambrosia Maple is well suited to be used as a cutting/food prep board or is equally at home serving up Charcuterie plates of soft cheese, veggies and prepared cold cuts. If serving food on the "painted" side it is recommended to use parchment paper for ease of cleanup and if concerned about the painted surface.
We worked hard to replicate the handcrafted look and feel of this very special board by trying not to over work the shape and finish working with and around the natural blemishes or defects to try to keep it looking like a board that came out of a handcrafted workshop.
Natural cupping and fine cracks is perfectly normal with any type of wood board and will not affect the integrity of the board and could enhance the authentic look. Make sure and pick up a Crawford Creek Board Butter with your order to help keep your gorgeous new board in top notch condition!

Board Safety: As with any painted surface we don't recommend to place any food in direct contact with any painted surface, should you decide to serve on the painted side, simply place parchment paper down first and the food on top plus much easier to clean up afterwards. Smooth, natural side is finished with all natural Hemp Oil and is safe for food contact.
